A variety of formal and informal trainings, professional development programs and departmental lunches are held throughout the year for our attorneys. Programs include the nuts and bolts of litigation and transaction practice for our junior attorneys, interactive deposition skills trainings, drafting and writing programs, and a variety of ethics trainings. In addition, we offer a number of training programs designed to strengthen our lawyers’ business acumen on topics such as accounting, networking skills and client service. Training sessions are held to encourage the development of expertise in specific areas of interest. You will receive bonus-eligible credit for time spent on certain teaching and writing activities.
Our Shadowing Program will give you the opportunity to experience on-the-job training, partner mentoring and client exposure early in your career. Shadowing opportunities include participating on conference calls, attending client meetings, going to hearings and court conferences, attending depositions, and participating in negotiating sessions. Junior associates receive bonus-eligible credit for these shadowing opportunities (hours vary by class year).
Participating in Firm Management
And as do all our attorneys, you will have the opportunity to take an active part in the firm’s management and direction. You will help elect representatives to the Associates Committee, which discusses matters of interest to the associates and the firm. The committee meets with the managing partner throughout the year. Associates also participate in three other key firm committees: the Pro Bono, Diversity and Summer Associate Steering committees.
