FDA, FTC Issue More Warning Letters to Companies Marketing False COVID-19 Products
The FDA and FTC continue to issue warning letters to companies making deceptive claims that their products can prevent or treat COVID-19, including:
- SinoTradition.com, Lotus Herbal Supplements, Lianhuaqingwencaps.com and Shen Clinic, LLC, which received joint warning letters from the FTC and FDA for their traditional Chinese medicine products, including “Lianhua Qingwen Capsules,” “Qing Fei Pai Du Tang,” and “Shuang Huang Lian;”
- Butterfly Expressions, LLC, which received a joint warning letter from the FTC and FDA for its blessed waters, essential oils, hand sanitizers, homeopathic products and tinctures; and
- Ionogen, LLC, which received a warning letter from the FDA for its “Ionpure Skin & Hands” product.
The letters instruct the recipients to immediately cease making the unsupported claims and respond to the relevant agency or agencies with specific steps taken to address their concerns.
