Kramer Levin launched affinity groups for our operational team members. The groups, launched in September, mirrored our attorney affinity groups which were formed in 2010 and include the Employees of Color Affinity Group, the Employees With Dependents Affinity Group, the Affinity Group for LGBTQ+ Employees and the Women’s Affinity Group.
Affinity Group for Attorneys of Color is an internal resource for its members to address career growth issues through peer networking and interaction with senior partners of diverse backgrounds. Based on the understanding that cultural differences can affect both perceptions and realities in any workplace, the opportunity for attorneys to consult with those who have dealt with such differences in the past has proved invaluable.
The LGBTQ+ Affinity Group welcomes employees who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and those who are allies of the LGBTQ+ community. The group hosts social events and participates in activities affecting the LGBTQ+ community, including pro bono matters affecting the community.
The Working Parents Affinity Group provides a way to connect working parents across the firm. This group was created to address the issues these employees face through ongoing group dialogue, internal networking opportunities, and formal and informal lunches.
All affinity groups have been connecting virtually and sharing resources internally to encourage support and create community during our remote working period. One of the events most recently conducted was a “Meet the Partner” discussion with Nathalia Bernardo. Nathalia shared insights on her career and her tips for finding a mentor and sponsor in one’s career.
Nathalia is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate practice with a focus on real estate investment trusts.
