• Andrew Baum has represented clients in some of the nation’s most significant and high-profile government and regulatory investigations, trials, congressional hearings, and high-stakes civil litigation.

Andrew represents corporations and their directors, officers and employees, as well as elected officials, professional athletes and other individuals in a broad range of legal and compliance matters, including defending allegations of financial fraud, violations of federal securities laws, insider trading, market manipulation, bribery, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations, obstruction of justice claims, cybersecurity matters and antitrust litigation.

Andrew counsels clients in matters involving the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Congress, the Office of the New York Attorney General, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory and law enforcement authorities.

Andrew has also represented clients in some of the most closely watched jury trials in the country.

Andrew’s recent matters include representing the chief executive officer of one of the world’s largest internet media companies in regulatory investigations, congressional hearings and class action litigation, concluding with no charges brought or any other actions taken; representing an investment management firm in a multiyear regulatory investigation resulting in no regulatory action taken against the firm; and representing a senior executive of an automotive company in federal and state regulatory investigations, resulting in no charges brought or any other actions taken.

Andrew is actively involved in the firm’s pro bono matters. Among his most notable representations, Andrew negotiated the dismissal of charges brought by the U.S. Attorney’s Office against a client facing a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence, after filing motions that highlighted weaknesses in the government’s case.

Prior to joining Kramer Levin, Andrew served as an intern in the New York Regional Office of the SEC, where he worked on investigations and enforcement matters in the Enforcement Division’s Market Abuse Unit. He also interned for the Honorable Robert P. Patterson Jr. in the Southern District of New York and for the Federal Defenders Office in the Southern District of New York.
