The Women’s Initiative of Kramer Levin is committed to creating and maintaining an environment where women can flourish and become leaders in the legal community, both inside and outside the firm. Below are some of the recent initiatives and programs led by this group.

International Women’s Day. The Women’s Initiative and the Pro Bono Committee co-sponsored a Pro Bono Café on March 6 to assess the legal needs of organizations that empower women and girls. In honor of International Women’s Day, Kramer Levin lawyers from the Tax, Intellectual Property, Corporate and Employment practices met with representatives from Alpha Mundi, the Women’s Refugee Commission, VoteRunLead, Women’s Prison Association and Huairou Commission to discuss how pro bono assistance can help them advance women’s initiatives. The event, sponsored in partnership with TrustLaw, the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono legal program, helped the organizations identify areas in which they need legal advice, while at the same time giving the firm’s attorneys the opportunity to learn more about the organizations’ social issues.

Women’s Circles. Launched two years ago, Kramer Levin’s Women’s Circles gather regularly to provide peer support and guidance on topics including mentoring, career progression, business development and fostering community among each other. In the past six months, all four of the women’s circles planned a variety of lunches and cocktail hours with women throughout the firm to engage in networking and informal mentoring. They also participated in a presentation by Alycia Sutor, managing director of GrowthPlay, on “Finding Authentic Boldness.”
