Kramer Levin represented all of the top-of-the-market super luxury buildings, 432 Park Avenue, 56 Leonard Street and One57, featured in an article entitled “Stratospheric Views, and Prices” in The New York Times on November 4, 2013. 432 Park Avenue, designed by Rafael Viñoly, will be the tallest residential building in the Western hemisphere when it is completed. An undisclosed buyer paid a reported $95 million for an 8,255 square-foot apartment (or more than $11,500 a square foot). 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca, nicknamed the “Jenga building” for its unique jagged steel-and-glass design by Herzog & De Meuron, has a penthouse on the 60th floor that sold for a reported $47 million, setting a record price for downtown. One57 will be a 1,000 foot tall hotel and residential building on West 57th Street opposite Carnegie Hall, scheduled to open in December.
The Real Estate teams that handled the condominium offerings and record breaking transactions for both 432 Park and 56 Leonard were led by partner Jonathan H. Canter, with associate Josh S. Winefsky, on 432 Park; and associate Tracy Chen on 56 Leonard. A team led by partners Michael Paul Korotkin and James P. Godman, with special counsel Tzvi Rokeach, did extensive work on the acquisition, development and financing of 56 Leonard as well.
The Land Use team that worked on 432 Park included partner Gary R. Tarnoff, associate Inge Hindriks and planning specialist Robert E. Flahive. Partner Michael T. Sillerman, Mr. Tarnoff and Ms. Hindriks handled land use advice for 56 Leonard. Partners Paul D. Selver and Elise Wagner, special counsel Valerie Campbell, and associates Robin Kramer and Sheila Pozon, handled the acquisition of development rights and zoning interpretations for the development of One57.
