Kramer Levin Submits Successful Appeal Brief to the Board of Immigration Appeals on Behalf of Asylum Applicant

Corporate associate Emilie Oberlis and Assistant Managing Attorney Samantha M. Ford submitted a brief to the Board of Immigration Appeals on behalf of an alien who was ordered to be removed after his application for asylum and protection under the Convention Against Torture was denied by an immigration judge. The Board of Immigration Appeals vacated the judge’s decision and remanded the case for additional evaluation of the alien’s mental competency because procedural safeguards were not properly followed.
