City Planning approval of a special permit to allow unrestricted residential use in a historic cast-iron building located at 111 Mercer Street was recently confirmed when the City Council declined to review the application. The special permit for 111 Mercer eliminates the artist-in-residence requirement that is found in the areas of Soho which are still zoned for manufacturing use. The 111 Mercer Street special permit was only the second such permit to be granted in Soho by the City Planning Commission. The Kramer Levin Land Use department team included partner Gary R. Tarnoff, special counsel Valerie G. Campbell and associate Adam B. Taubman.
