Kramer Levin obtained a restraining order and child support for a victim of domestic violence (DV) who was seeking to leave a verbally and physically abusive relationship with the father of her 11 month old child. Many DV victims are financially dependent on their abusers and this case was no exception. It is very common for DV victims to feel powerless, overwhelmed, and unsure about whether or not they should pursue a restraining order and child support. After discussing the options, the Kramer Levin team proceeded with a restraining order hearing. Our client obtained a three year restraining order and significant monthly child support. The Kramer Levin team included Intellectual Property associate Hien Lien, and Intellectual Property partner Lisa Kobialka supervised the case. The client was referred to Kramer Levin by pro bono partner Legal Aid Society of San Mateo.
