Kramer Levin Client Systemax Completes Its Acquisition of Assets of CompUSA
Kramer Levin represented Systemax Inc. in its acquisition of assets of CompUSA, Inc. Systemax purchased assets related to CompUSA’s online business on January 10, 2008 and completed the purchase of sixteen retail leases on March 4, 2008. The purchase price for these assets was an aggregate of approximately $30 million.
Systemax, a Fortune 1000 company, sells personal computers, computer supplies, consumer electronics and industrial products through web sites, direct mail catalogs and retail stores in North America and Europe. Systemax also manufacturers and sells personal computers under the Systemax and Ultra brands. Systemax is expected to change the names of its existing retail locations to CompUSA and to retain compusa.com as a distinct web site.
