On March 20, 2024, Everytown for Gun Safety and co-counsel Kramer Levin and the City of Philadelphia Law Department secured a significant pretrial victory for the City of Philadelphia in its lawsuit against gun shops in the city, as the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County denied defendants’ motion to dismiss.
The ruling paves the way for the suit, which was filed in 2023 and alleges that the defendants (among the larger suppliers of the city’s secondary criminal gun market) engage in illegal gun trafficking and straw transactions, contributing directly to the tide of gun violence and harm to the city and its residents, to proceed.
