Kramer Levin represented the Gotham Organization (Gotham) as land use counsel in connection with a $162 million construction loan from Wells Fargo to advance a new mixed-used development in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The development financed by the loan will consist of a 30-story, 378-unit residential tower that will include retail space and a new headquarters for the Chinese American Planning Council. The Kramer Levin team advising Gotham consists of Land Use partner Elise Wagner and associate Eugene C. Travers.
Elise and Eugene are also working with Gotham in connection with its acquisition of the site for an adjacent 16-story senior affordable housing building that will include a cultural heritage center for the Beth Hamedrash Hagadol Synagogue.
Earlier this year, Elise and Eugene obtained city approvals necessary for both buildings, including a rezoning and a special permit.
