Having dedicated some three thousand pro bono hours over three years, David S. Frankel, Marjorie Sheldon and Susan D. Hawkins recently won a settlement ensuring that thousands of asthmatic homeless children will be guided to free medical care by New York City officials, reported the New York Law Journal in a recent article. The April 11, 2003 article explains that the team was successful in a federal class action suit, brought on behalf of the Association to Benefit Children against agencies responsible for the city's shelter system, winning an 83-point stipulation that ensures that asthmatic children get comprehensive care mandated by a Medicaid program. Parthena Georgiou and former associate Justine Harris also assisted with this case.
