Business Immigration Roundtable: Immigration Law in the Age of Trump: What to Expect Going Forward

On June 15, 2017, Immigration partners Ted Ruthizer, Mark D. Koestler and Matthew S. Dunn will lead the discussion “Immigration Law in the Age of Trump: What to Expect Going Forward,” as part of Kramer Levin’s Business Immigration Roundtable.

The discussion will focus on:

• New enforcement initiatives at the U.S. consulates and at borders and Pre-flight Inspection Stations, and how to prepare employees to maximize their chances for admission without problems.
• The future of NAFTA: a discussion of the hot issues involving the immigration provisions of NAFTA. We will discuss acute issues such as TN Management Consultants; mischief at the border in TN adjudications and the Service Center option; and whether the degree fits the position and why that matters.
• What’s up with H-1Bs, including the 2018 lottery, the future of the lottery, the coming increased wage requirements and other changes we anticipate we will see this year.
• Is this the end of the road for PERMs? Will a point system replace it, and if so, how would it work?
• The disappearing L-1 status and how to succeed with L cases in this more restrictive climate.
