• Boaz I. Cohen litigates complex commercial disputes, including Lanham Act false advertising cases and proceedings before the National Advertising Division. Boaz also represents individuals and entities in criminal and civil white collar matters, including in investigations and enforcement proceedings before government and regulatory agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). His work involves matters in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and mediations and includes all stages of proceedings, from pleadings, motions and hearings to managing large-scale discovery, preparing fact and expert witnesses for depositions and trial, taking and defending depositions, and trial strategy and preparation. He is particularly skilled at crafting legal briefs at both the trial and appellate levels, including co-authoring several U.S. Supreme Court amicus briefs in pro bono cases. 

    Boaz also advises clients on the expanding framework of both U.S. and foreign privacy and data protection laws, as well as sector-specific regulations in health care, finance and advertising, among others. He is certified in privacy law by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), including in privacy program management (CIPM), U.S. Privacy Laws (CIPP/US) and European Privacy Laws (CIPP/E).

    Boaz dedicates significant time to pro bono work and helps administer the firm’s Veterans Assistance Project, assisting veterans with disabilities to secure or increase life-changing benefits. He is also active in pro bono appellate work across a number of fields, most recently obtaining a reversal from the New Jersey Appellate Division in a case concerning the intersection of the First Amendment and the enforceability of arbitration awards. He also serves as an editor of Kramer Levin’s weekly “Advertising Litigation Report.”

    Boaz rejoined Kramer Levin after clerking for the Honorable Stuart J. Rabner, Supreme Court of New Jersey. He earlier took a year from his practice with the firm to clerk for the Honorable Kevin McNulty, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
